Imagine if Romeo recieved the message that Juliette would feign her death, and thus the tragedy became a romance reconciling the feuding families. But, perhaps I’d change the whole concept born from every fairy story of “Happily ever after”, soon after marriage, the prince constantly leaving the toilet seat up, the toothpaste top screwed off and worn underpants constantly left on the bedroom floor which all, and more, began to grate on the princess, to the extent she told him in no uncertain terms where to take his brave white steed and fancy clobber.
In a broader context then. Is there truly a ‘The End’ in any book. Was Winston playing all along, like Machiavelli, to gain the trust of the inner party chiefs and bring down ‘the party’ as early as 1985. Every book, alike history is written by the winners and the accepted conclusion. We don’t see the other point of view because we’re mice chasing a contrived maze, we don’t want to consider other options or alternatives.
Can Frodo adorn the ring and side with Sauron? Why were the Orcs depicted as ‘Ugly’ and Hobbits cute.
The book of Science never ends, it adapts. Likewise, philosophy.
If my life is a book, each day, predictable – how it will end. Left turn, right turn, left turn, right, right … take the reward of a morsel of chocolate.
Can I change it? If I finish right and THEN ..Left , but here be a Barrier ! break it down! Nibble at that Perspex maze wall until I get out. Sail into the Maps labelled ‘Here Be Dragons’.
Nothing ends, Lets hope the alternative is not just repetition.
Change the ending of a Book ? (Word Press prompt 25/05/26 )

The Random musings of a nobody. “Dagenham Dave”, is slang for someone one stop short of Barking (mad), though more contemporarily refers to any wayfaring and carefree person. Dagenham is a town to the eastern side of London (Luds Dominium) that was first recorded in a Barking charter in 666a.d. as the town of Daeccanham. Daecca is an ancient man’s name meaning ‘bright’ or ‘famous’ . Ham is short for Hamlet.
Dave is short for David, Hebrew for ‘Beloved’, My Surname ‘Wenborn’ derives from old English meaning of the Winding Stream.
Contents:-
1/ Book Reviews.
They’re not reviews as such- to recommend or asway, I neither seek to promote nor condemn, more my personal reflections on the books I read. In that respect it’s a subjective thing. I write the reviews as it instils in the mind, like writing down your dreams on waking, the right to remember.
2/ Short Stories and Tales
Short stories borne from imagination, dreams, thoughts and wanderings. Too large to be written in my journal of shadows.
3/ Full Books
Books that were once published elsewhere, I have full copyright on these, and of course given here freely.
4/ Magazines and Articles
Small snippets and articles that may or may not have appeared elsewhere, and information not included in Journal of shadows.
5/ Poetry
A small selection of poetry. Like song, I create as a means to an artistic diary.
6/ WordPress Challenges
