Think About the Future or the Past? (WordPress prompt 5/1/26)
Having turned up for work this morning and wondering why no-one else has turned up, perhaps I should check the future more often and would have realised we don’t go back to work until Wednesday. Doh.
It’s be a bit of a wannabe-zen cliche to say I tend to think of the present more than anything, but truth is, apart from planning holidays/gigs I rarely worry/consider about the future.
A lot of my friends talk about the “halcyon” days, the “good old days”. I don’t see that. I still do things today that we did as kids. I don’t look back, perhaps now and again with the odd wince of embarrassment and a tinge of those regretful moments, I certainly wouldn’t want to go back in time.
I suppose therefore I spend equal time, minimal, thinking of the past and the future. The past defines what we are- This, and the future what we assume we will be- That. But we, in truth and in the present are Neither, as the old philosophy says, “Not This, Not That.” नीति
To those that receive an email to say a new post has been published. I never realised it sent you the whole post. I type quickly, half the time not really focused, and after published, I then might re-read and adjust, which obviously those receiving the emails wont get. Its rare I’ll delete a whole paragraph, or insert one, but it could happen, likewise, spelling mistakes get missed and my sometimes skewey grammar needs a brush up. I’m not professional, these entries really are just me rambling on, I don’t strive for perfection, so ignore the email post and read the ‘piece’ after a few hours… I guess, apologies ;-).Dag’Dave
The Random musings of a nobody. “Dagenham Dave”, is slang for someone one stop short of Barking (mad), though more contemporarily refers to any wayfaring and carefree person. Dagenham is a town to the eastern side of London (Luds Dominium) that was first recorded in a Barking charter in 666a.d. as the town of Daeccanham. Daecca is an ancient man’s name meaning ‘bright’ or ‘famous’ . Ham is short for Hamlet. Dave is short for David, Hebrew for ‘Beloved’, My Surname ‘Wenborn’ derives from old English meaning of the Winding Stream.

Like song, I create as a means to an artistic diary. 6/ WordPress Challenges Wordpress (where this website is hosted) offer up a daily prompt for people to answer, sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t.
