Firstly everything thought of as negative can be turned into thoughts of sarcasm and wit, that which is bringing us down we can delight in, because it’s imperfect.
Can the hungry laugh at those with gorging at the sumptuous banquet? perhaps I’m being a tad naïve.
Negative feelings arise from limitation, the austerity of our being, our situation and usually an unfavourable position wrought by the actions others have placed upon us. We become envious and jealous of them, we want to be in that position of contentment where our decisions enhance our lives, even at the risk of degrading others. Some say it is survival of the fittest and others lack of compassion. The end and same result is some win, some lose.
If we lose, how do we overcome those negative feelings?
Existentialism~ Existentialism is a philosophical movement that emphasizes individual freedom, choice, and the inherent meaninglessness of life. It suggests that people must create their own meaning and values through their actions, despite the challenges of living in an indifferent or even absurd world.
Are we meaningless? By the scale of the universe and the actual size we inhabit in it, mathematically to the nearest nth number, as a ratio of the earth to the observable universe, we don’t actually exist. In the time scale of the universe to our life time, if in the scale of a year we inhabit perhaps a blink of an eye. Do we matter? Suffering is suffering even in the moment after all, as temporal as it is.
When I am feeling negative I can only do one of a few things.
Listen to or play/create music.
Wander aimlessly on my own, somewhere in nature.
Stand under the canopy of the stars, hold my hand up and know, as meaningless and insignificant as I, you and, definitely Elon Musk and Trump are in the scheme of things, that I, and we, exist, here and now! Despite the suffering, in the majesty of the universe and the limitless boundary of time, we are a miracle. It may be rose tinted, and I may be naïve still, but the music plays on. Forever.

The Death of Seneca-Rubens, Peter Paul c.1612-
Stoicism in the face of abject misery, accepting fate, and the limitations we have to break out, surrender, breathe, and sing a happy song.
