Writing Prompt 19th Jan ’24 (What Makes a Good leader)

Bloganuary writing prompt
What makes a good leader?

At the first port of call They are someone who gets respect and does not expect or demand it. They don’t need to bully or coerce, manipulate or demean.
The leader should be objective in their aims, dealing only with what needs to be done, what obstacles are there that need to be removed, how to best utilise those whose skills will do a job correctly and efficiently and also to train, empower and instil trust and confidence in their staff.
But lets face it, that’s a dull world, a faceless and poker faced existence, the morality of the psychopath. A good leader will get the job done if everyone enjoys the experience, life should be about experience and happiness, peace and safety. Of course between these two scenarios lay the answer for this last example is naïve, life is a struggle, sometimes, many times, we have to embark on something we don’t enjoy out of necessity. Does it take a Good leader? We all know what needs to be done.
Once upon a time we had The Personnel department, they would ensure that staff were treated well, had the right training, and dealt with all the necessary things to accommodate people in their workplace. Now, they are gone and instead we have Human resources, there aim is simple, efficiency, cost cutting and every human is merely a resource, a necessary evil whose function is to maximise profit. Its the real world and that’s what happens, except human resources are full of people who you wouldn’t want to run a school tuck shop (and they probably did) let alone deal with a company and its employees.
Although its idyllic, and yes, naïve, my belief is that, everyone is the leader or no-one is the leader.

Wot’s this all about then Guv’nor ?;-
The Random musings of a nobody. “Dagenham Dave”, is slang for someone one stop short of Barking (mad), though more contemporarily refers to any wayfaring and carefree person. Dagenham is a town to the eastern side of London (Luds Dominium) that was first recorded in a Barking charter in 666a.d. as the town of Daeccanham. Daecca is an ancient man’s name meaning ‘bright’ or ‘famous’ . Ham is short for Hamlet.
Dave is short for David, Hebrew for ‘Beloved’, My Surname ‘Wenborn’ derives from old English meaning of the Winding Stream.
