At the outset I assumed the answer would be some musician, some renegade from my youth that is still relevant to me, but I know what to expect from my favourite bands, and let’s face it their main motivation is to shift merch, to sell records and make a living doing things they enjoy, well until 6 days in from a tour and all they want to do is go home and rest and stretch their legs in the local. There’s very few musicians, bands that are thinking outside the box/stage/merch stall and preparing for. Revolution of mind/body and soul.
I’ve never been much for idol worship of movie stars, though I appreciate a good film.
I had to look at, currently what excites me in ‘people’, who do I look forward to? The answer surprised me as it seemed to be vloggers! YouTubers!
There are a few vloggers who I regularly watch, whenever they post new content I’ll watch it.
Foolish Fish;- he reviews all new esoteric and occult books, I shouldn’t really like him because more often than not my wallet becomes increasing lighter and emptier every time I watch his vlog.
Vinyl Richie and Ryan Kid;- likewise they review, but it’s old and new music, and they like the sort of music I do, alt, punk, new wave, and the odd curveball. They are also wonderfully human, unpretentious and just get on with it without any gimmicks or fancy premierpro add ins.
Spectre Digital;- Good ol’ Glen, he’s a producer and loud mouthed Canadian who gives us the lowdown on all things guitar wise and recording and everything in between. he’s that atypical ‘just a regular guy’ who could be anyone f our friends or people we know, in fact, I think all the vloggers in this list are like that, couldn’t abide a five minute meetup with some ‘look at me’ influencer.
In a similar though more laid back approach The Pedal Show, again, my love of guitars and effects knows no bounds and here’s the low down on all things electrickery with regards to guitars and noise creating effects.
Its not going to change the world and if I hear of someone who can, then they’ll be at the top of the list, until then, its the gentle art of distraction and the things I love, Records, books and making music.
